Tap an Island to bring it to your hand using Trade Routes then Foil a spell using the alternate cost

pull tons of lands out of your library with land tax and just discard them to draw cards. you can also use it so you bring lands back into your hand so you can activate the tax

you get infinitive mana...

play Saprazzan Skerry , play 2 Islands, tap the Islands to play Trade Routes, tap Saprazzan Skerry , remove all counters from Skerry with one of the mana going to Trade Routes to use it agian

discard lands to draw cards, then bring them back w/ planar birth

with a few creatures, tap cradle for 3 , return it with trade routes for 1, play it again , tap cradle again , return it again , play it again , rinse and repeat

Sacrafice a land and use trade routes ability to bring it back to your hand. You can then continue to sacfrice the same land over and over again to gain alot of life.
