the key to winning with this deck is to get multiple marsh vipers out with either hermetic study or psionic gift and instill energy. it works because if you read the poison counter cards correctly they say "if it damages a player". so if you ping them(tap deal 1 damage to target creature or player) they still get the poison counters.
